Ms. Parker,
My name is Jonathan Pelton and I am the Residential Manager at
My Father's House Community
Services. I manage a transitional housing program providing individual women and families with extended
shelter and supportive services. The goal of the program is to help clients increase their
skills so as to better maintain permanent housing.
I'm e-mailing you because we need help to make our services successful. We need individuals
and/or families who can help our clients better their abilities. Our two greatest needs currently are
for volunteers to help with:
(1) childcare and other children's programming, and for
(2) front desk attendants primarily on evenings and weekends.
We need people who are willing to play with children, mentor them and care for them while their
mothers are working, going to classes or when they simply need a break. Front Desk Attendant is a
volunteer position that helps to ensure the smooth operation of
MFH while staff is not present.
Anyone who is interested in volunteering will also have the opportunity to attend a training session
so that they can be equipped to help our residents in the best possible way.
We believe that every person has gifts and talents that God can use so we are more than interested
to hear from individuals who have other ideas of how they can volunteer.
There are also opportunities for groups to do service projects and fundraisers to help this
ministry. As with most organizations these days, money is always tight; but, we would also love for
ministry groups to come and host events for our residents and their children. These kinds of events
might look like craft or game nights, or outings of many varieties. There are many ways that groups
or individuals can help.
If any of these opportunities interest you, please contact Jay Preston or Beth Leach at
(913) 294-3600, or e-mail us; info@my-fathers-house.com.
Thank You.
Love God and have fun,
Seeya,
Jonathan Pelton
